Why is an attorney equipped to handle appeals so important?  Most attorney's that handle appeals, by writing briefs and arguing cases before more supreme courts, know statutory and case law far more than most attorneys.  The reason being, when an attorney trials a case, his chief goal is to achieve the best interests of his clients and this can be done by making sure he or she catches every single mistake that the prosecutor or judge may make.  If properly noticed by the attorney, than these mistakes can be taken up on appeal if these mistakes adversely affect your case.
